Origen. Creada mediante Resolución número 3446 del 17 de agosto de 1955 del Ministerio de Guerra y reglamentada por el Decreto 1880 de 1988, destinada a recompensar la lealtad, servicios distinguidos e intachable conducta de los miembros del Batallón Guardia Presidencial. La Medalla ostenta las categorías de: Honoraria y Mérito Militar.
