La "Medalla Departamento Administrativo de Seguridad", en el grado de "Acción Distinguida de Valor", categoría "Especial", se otorgará al funcionario del DAS que en cumplimiento de los deberes oficiales, en desarrollo de las misiones encomendadas por sus superiores, o con el fin de prevenir o frustrar la comisión de delitos, ejecute acto sobresaliente y distinguido de valor. En la categoría "Gran Medalla", cuando además de reunir los anteriores requisitos, la acción esté revestida de heroísmo, sea de gran relevancia nacional y contribuya a engrandecer el prestigio de la institución.
