Son calidades para ejercer de Guarda Cívico las siguientes: Para los cargos que se creen en las categorías superiores, título universitario y en las demás título de bachiller, sin perjuicio de los cursos de entrenamiento que deban realizar con la Policía Nacional, mediante contrato que se suscriba para el efecto entre la Nación (Ministerio de Defensa) y el respectivo municipio.
