Contratación del seguro de salud. Las entidades territoriales deberán contratar la póliza del seguro de salud con una compañía aseguradora legalmente constituida y autorizada por la Superintendencia Bancaria para explotar el ramo de salud en Colombia.

En la contratación de dicha póliza deberá establecerse el acceso a los servicios de salud en el municipio o distrito de residencia del concejal, el acceso a los diferentes niveles de complejidad establecidos en el plan obligatorio de salud y deberá contemplar la cobertura familiar.
