Si la persona nombrada para un puesto consular residiere en el lugar donde deba presentar el servicio no se le abonarán viáticos. Si residiere fuera de Colombia, y en un lugar más inmediato a aquel donde haya de servir, el Poder Ejecutivo le asignará para viáticos de ida una suma proporcional a la distancia, y los de regreso se le pagarán si volviere a Colombia.
