De conformidad con lo señalado en el artículo 39 de la Ley 21 de 1982, las Cajas de Compensación Familiar son personas jurídicas de derecho privado, sin ánimo de lucro, organizadas como corporaciones en la forma prevista en el Código Civil, cumplen funciones de seguridad social y se hallan sometidas al control y vigilancia del Estado en la forma establecida por la ley.
