Decreto 2252 de 1995 · por el cual se desarrollan la estructura orgánica y las funciones de la Policía Nacional y se dictan otras disposiciones.

División de Operaciones . Son funciones de la División de Operaciones, las siguientes

Dirigir y coordinar la programación, búsqueda y recolección de información sobre planes, hechos, actividades, organizaciones y personas dedicadas a la realización de crímenes.

Suministrar a través de la Central de Inteligencia la información requerida para realizar operaciones contra organizaciones delictivas.

Llevar un archivo operacional de cada investigación, que incluya datos biográficos de los delincuentes, modalidades y antecedentes.

Organizar sistemas de recolección de información, mediante el manejo de informantes, creación de redes e intercambio con otras agencias.

Las demás que le determinen la ley y los reglamentos.
