A la muerte de un oficial en goce de asignación de retiro que se encuentre nombrado en el Servicio territorial, sus herederos en el orden preferencial establecido en este estatuto, tendrán derecho, además de las prestaciones establecidas para estos casos, a que por el Tesoro Público se les pague una compensación en dinero igual a doce(12) meses el último sueldo del causante y a un (1) mes de dicho sueldo por cada año de servicio que hubiere prestado el Oficial, después de nombrado en el Servicio Territorial.
