La Universidad del Cauca, histórica y jurídicamente ha sido y es un Instituto docente de carácter nacional. Por consiguiente, en lo sucesivo, será sostenida con fondos nacionales que deberán apropiarse cada año en el respectivo Presupuesto, sin perjuicio de que ella pueda seguir disfrutando de los bienes, rentas, auxilios, subvenciones y demás ingresos de que actualmente goza o que puedan asignársele en el futuro.
