El congreso de Colombia honra la memoria del señor doctor don Nicolás Es docto y recto varón, cuya admirable vida privada no menos que su ejemplar carrera pública, su alteza de miras y rectitud de intenciones, su probidad y desprendimiento su cordura , descripción y tolerancia, su cristiana benevolencia y el culto fervoroso que siempre rindió a la República, hicieron de este noble patricio uno de los primeros ciudadanos de la Nación.
