La Policía Nacional es una institución pública de carácter permanente y naturaleza oficial, constituida con régimen y disciplina especiales, que depende del Ministro de Defensa Nacional y hace parte de la Fuerza Pública en los términos de los artículos 167 y 168 de la Constitución Política.
