En homenaje a la memoria de este ilustre ciudadano, el Gobierno Nacional erigirá en la ciudad de Bucaramanga, cuna del insigne hombre público, una estatua con la siguiente inscripción; "la República de Colombia al eminente hombre público Luis Carlos Galán Sarmiento, mártir de la democracia".
