De media diversificada. Establécese en el país la enseñanza media diversificada entendida como la etapa posterior a la educación elemental y durante la cual el alumno tiene oportunidad de formarse integralmente, a la vez que puede elegir entre varias áreas de estudio, la que más se ajuste a sus necesidades, intereses y habilidades. Así, el alumno podrá ingresar a la universidad o desempeñar más efectivamente una determinada función en su comunidad. (Decreto 1962 de 1969, artículos 1°).
