La República de Colombia honra una vez más la memoria de Cristóbal Colón, y se adhiere al propósito de erigir en la costa de la ciudad de Santo, Domingo, capital de la República Dominicana, un faro monumental en homenaje al gran descubridor de América, que perpetúe su nombre y glorifique la portentosa hazaña de haber dado a la civilización el nuevo mundo.
