Decreto 322 de 1949 · por el cual se organiza la dependencia del Ministerio de Higiene denominada "Instituto de Estudios Especiales Carlos Finlay".

Artículo segundo. El Instituto continuará la labor que ha venido desarrollando en los años anteriores y sus funciones serán

a)

La campaña contra la fiebre amarilla en el país.

b)

Servicio de Viscerotomía.

c)

Preparar, distribuir y aplicar la vacuna contra la fiebre amarilla.

d)

Realizar estudios sobre el tifo exantemático y otras enfermedades de la misma categoría, produciendo al mismo tiempo las vacunas contra tales enfermedades.

e)

Realizar estudios en general de las enfermedades producidas por virus.
