Para obtener el grado de Subteniente Combatiente en el Ejército de Subteniente en la Fuerza Aérea y de Teniente de Corbeta o Subteniente de Infantería de Marina en la Armada, es requisito haber cursado con éxito los estudios y ser propuesto para tal grado por el Director o Comandante del Instituto salvo las excepciones contempladas en este estatuto.
