El Presidente de la República tomará posesión de su destino ante el Congreso, y prestará juramento en estos términos: "Juro a Dios y prometo al pueblo cumplir fielmente la Constitución y las leyes de Colombia".
Si por cualquier motivo el Presidente de la República no pudiere tomar posesión ante el Congreso, lo hará ante la Corte Suprema de Justicia o, en defecto de esta, ante dos testigos.
