Las actividades espaciales permitidas en Colombia, deberán garantizar la minimización de los efectos adversos de estas en el medio ambiente, tanto en la Tierra, como en el espacio exterior. Así mismo, procurarán por el mantenimiento del uso sostenible del espacio, específicamente, a través de la disminución de emisión de desechos espaciales de tal forma que no se produzca una contaminación nociva ni cambio desfavorables en el medio ambiente de la Tierra.
