° El Ministerio de Gobierno podrá señalar, dentro de cada Distrito Judicial, la Cárcel o Cárceles de Circuito en que los condenados deban cumplir las penas de corta duración de conformidad con lo estatuido en los artículos 55, 58 y 60 del Código Penal. En estas Cárceles deberá existir, por tanto, un departamento especial con ese fin.
