El canon superficiario que los contratistas de exploración y explotación de petróleo deben pagar al Estado, se liquidará sobre la totalidad de la extensión contratada, aunque el suelo, en todo o en parte, no sea de propiedad nacional.

Si el área contratada incluyere superficies de propiedad municipal, el respectivo Municipio tendrá derecho a percibir la totalidad del canon superficiario correspondiente a dicha superficie.

Queda en estos términos modificado el artículo 26 del Código de Petróleos.
