Art. 30. En los casos de avería o de naufrajio de buques de vapor u otros, los Capitanes, Patrones i empleados superiores de dichos buques asumirán el carácter de ajentes de policía para impedir los atentados i robos que se intenten cometer con motivo o protesto del salvamento i para practicar las dilijencias sumarias miéntras ocurran las autoridades del distrito o poblado más inmediato, las cuales están obligadas a trasladarse, tan luego como tengan conocimiento del suceso, al lugar de la avería o del naufrajio con la fuerza de policía necesaria para dar seguridad a las personas i a los intereses.
