La Medalla Militar "Soldado Juan Bautista Solarte Obando", tendrá las siguientes características: Será una Medalla de plata de cuarenta (40) milímetros de diámetro en la que se grabará en su anverso el escudo de Colombia encerrado por una corona de laurel y en su reverso el nombre del Cuerpo de Tropas, Base o Repartición, al cual pertenezca el agraciado, la fecha y la leyenda: Medalla Militar "Soldado Juan Bautista Solarte Obando".
