La Nación enaltece, asimismo, como ejemplar el esfuerzo del Municipio de Cartago al crear y sostener con sus propios medios un centro de educación, que fue el primer colegio municipal de señoritas del occidente colombiano, en el orden del tiempo y de la importancia, y cuyos frutos en la formación normalista, en la comercial y en el bachillerato han sido significativos y copiosos.
