El Presidente del Consejo advertirá a los procesados que les da completa libertad para que puedan ejercitar los medios legales de defensa. En seguida les pedirá explicaciones claras y categóricas respecto a los hechos que por cualquier circunstancia puedan estimarse incompatibles con su inocencia, y hará todo esfuerzo posible para que el reo relacione los hechos con sinceridad y exactitud. Los vocales también podrán interrogar a los acusados: Cuando sean varios los acusados, se les examinará separadamente. Terminado el procedimiento de que trata este artículo, se procederá a la lectura del expediente en las partes que se consideren necesarias.
