El Gobierno, con fondos del Tesoro Público, hará trasladar los restos mortales del General Vargas Santos, al cementerio central de Bogotá, y hará construir allí mismo, como tributo de recordación del pueblo colombiano a su benemérito paladín, un monumento con el busto en bronce del General, en la galería reservada a los hombres ilustres.
