Corresponde al Senado conceder licencia al Presidente de la República para separarse temporalmente del cargo.

Por motivo de enfermedad, el Presidente de la República puede dejar de ejercer el cargo, por el tiempo necesario, mediante aviso al Senado o, en receso de este, a la Corte Suprema de Justicia.
