º. La carrera diplomática se divide en las siguientes categorías: 1º. Enviado Extraordinario y Ministro Plenipotenciario; 2º. Ministro Residente; 3º. Encargado de Negocios; 4º. Consejero; 5º. Secretario de Legación; 6º. Agregado o Adjunto. En casos extraordinarios podrá el Gobierno acreditar Embajadores en misión especial. Para este último cargo como para los correspondientes a las categorías 1º y 2º, el Gobierno podrá escoger a individuos en quienes, aún sin ser de la carrera, concurran especiales circunstancias, méritos y servicios.
