Objetivos del depósito legal. Sin dar prioridad a alguno de los siguientes objetivos y respetando la legislación sobre derechos de autor, el depósito legal permitirá

Salvaguardar la memoria y acrecentar el patrimonio bibliográfico y documental del país, como reflejo de su diversidad cultural.

Asegurar la consulta del patrimonio cultural de carácter bibliográfico y documental para garantizar los derechos culturales y el derecho de acceso a la información para las generaciones actuales y futuras respetando la legislación sobre derecho de autor.

Recuperar, catalogar, conservar y difundir el patrimonio bibliográfico y documental nacional, para permitir su preservación y acceso, respetando la legislación sobre derechos de autor.
