Para ascender al grado de Brigadier General, el Gobierno escogerá libremente entre los Coroneles que hayan cumplido las condiciones. generales y especiales, que este estatuto determina, que sean egresados de la Escuela de Cadetes de Policía "General Santander", posean título de Oficial diplomado en Academia Superior de Policía y hayan realizado un curso de "Altos estudios", de acuerdo con reglamentación del Gobierno.
