El Ministerio de la Protección Social definirá la política farmacéutica, de insumos y dispositivos médicos a nivel nacional y en su implementación, establecerá y desarrollará mecanismos y estrategias dirigidas a optimizar la utilización de medicamentos, insumos y dispositivos, a evitar las inequidades en el acceso y asegurar la calidad de los mismos, en el marco del Sistema General de Seguridad Social en Salud.
