En honor a su memoria la Nación colocará un retrato al óleo del General Campo Serrano, en uno de los salones del Senado, y en el cementerio de la ciudad de Santa Marta se erigirá un monumento de mármol donde se guarden sus restos, con esta inscripción:

"El Congreso de Colombia al General don José María Campo Serrano-1915 "
