El objeto de la Fundación será el de desarrollar actividades culturales en el Departamento de Caldas entre otros:

Publicación de obras de artistas; Investigaciones folclóricas; Concursos para premiar obras científicas, literarias o artísticas;

Dotación de bibliotecas públicas. Entre otras la del doctor Silvio Villegas que ha sido adquirida por el Banco de la República con destino a la ciudad de Manizales.
