Las competencias del profesional en ecología son:

Ejercer responsabilidades y funciones de asistencia, gestión, administración, investigación, coordinación, docencia, tanto en las áreas generales como especializadas y aquellas conexas con su ejercicio tales como asesorías, consultorías, interventorías y otras seleccionadas;

Participar en la definición de criterios y estándares de calidad en las dimensiones científicas, tecnológicas y éticas de la práctica profesional.
