Art. 144. Las partes pueden solicitar, de común acuerdo y todas las veces que tengan á bien, la suspensión del juicio por determinado número de días. El escrito que contenga tal solicitud debe presentarse personalmente al Juez ó Magistrado por ante el Secretario, de lo cual se extenderá una diligencia que firmarán el Juez ó Magistrado, por ante el Secretario y las partes.
