Esta disposición, regula el comportamiento del personal uniformado de la Policía Nacional y se aplicará cuando se transgreda el presente estatuto disciplinario o se vulnere la protección de los derechos fundamentales contenidos en la Constitución Política e instrumentos internacionales de Derechos Humanos, suscritos y ratificados por Colombia, que hacen parte del bloque de constitucionalidad y, dan lugar a la activación de la acción disciplinaria contenida en esta ley.
