ARTICULO 53 . En todo buque eon potencia propulsora continua total, superior a 3.000 KW habrá siempre un Oficial de máquinas de guardia en puerto. En los de potencia menor de 3.000 KW se podrá prescindir de un Oficial maquinista de guardia en puerto, si el Capitán y el Maquinista Jefe lo consideran seguro, siempre y cuando no se transporten mercancías peligrosas a granel y haya oficial de guardia de cubierta.
