En general, los documentos privados se presentan originales, y sólo se admiten en copia que tenga el mismo valor:

Cuando han sido protocolizados.

Cuando consistan en apuntes o libros de cuentas, o que pertenezcan a terceros, pues en estos casos el Secretario saca copia, previa la exhibición.

Cuando se expida por orden del Juez; y

Cuando figuren ya en juicio y no se pueda o no convenga obtener el desglose.
