Antes de hacer constar la nacionalización de un buque en el registro de que trata el artículo 176 el respectivo Administrador de Aduana que haya de hacer el registro, deberá cerciorarse:

1º De que tal buque pertenece en el todo o en parte a uno o varios ciudadanos colombianos residentes en el territorio nacional, o residentes en país extranjero como empleados nacionales.

2º De que ha sido legalmente adquirido; y

3º De las dimensiones, el porte, la clase y el nombre del buque, el lugar de su construcción, la nación a que haya pertenecido (si no navega por primera vez) y los nombres del dueño y del Capitán.
