Además del control que ejercen las autoridades competentes, el Instituto de Seguros Sociales tendrá un sistema de control interno para garantizar que todas las actividades de la entidad se realicen de conformidad con la Ley 100 de 1993 y con sujeción a estrictos criterios de moralidad, eficacia, economía, calidad y oportunidad de los servicios, celeridad, imparcialidad y publicidad.
