La Academia Colombiana, establecida en Bogotá en 1872 como correspondiente de la Real Española y restablecida en 1910, es persona jurídica y tendrá el carácter de Cuerpo consultivo del Gobierno para todo lo relativo al fomento de la literatura y a la conservación y perfeccionamiento de la lengua nacional, que es la castellana o española.
