De conformidad con el artículo 51 de la Ley 86 de 1946 el calculista conservará la propiedad intelectual delos cálculos de los planos y especificaciones que entrega a su mandante quien adquiere derechos únicamente para ejecutar la obra tenida en cuenta sin que pueda enajenarlos, reproducirlos o servirse de ellos para otras cosas. Estos derechos corresponden al autor o a sus herederos, salvo convenio en contrario.
