Los Concejales serán elegidos para períodos de dos años y podrán ser reelegidos indefinidamente. Su período se iniciará el primero (1º) de agosto siguiente a la fecha de su elección.

Parágrafo transitorio

El período de los Concejales elegidos en marzo de 1986 termina el treinta y uno (31) de julio de 1988, mes durante el cual sesionarán ordinariamente sin derecho a los diez (10) días de prórroga de que habla el artículo 79.
