En virtud de la supervigilancia conferida a la Superintendencia por la Ley 68 de 1924, esta oficina podrá ejercer respecto de las compañías de seguros las facultades que le confiere la Ley 45 de 1923 sobre toma de posesión y liquidación de las compañías de seguros, en cuanto dichas disposiciones sean aplicables, debiendo tenerse como quebranto grave el capital de una compañía para los efectos del ordinal 7º del artículo 48 de dicha Ley, el que lo reduzca a menos de la mitad del capital pagado.
