Decreto 59 de 1986 · por el cual se aprueban los Estatutos del Fondo de Garantías de Instituciones Financieras.

º FUNCIONES. Dentro del objeto general previsto en el artículo anterior, el Fondo tendrá las siguientes funciones

a)

Servir de instrumento para el fortalecimiento patrimonial de las instituciones inscritas;

b)

Participar transitoriamente en el capital de las instituciones inscritas;

c)

Procurar que las instituciones inscritas tengan medios para otorgar liquidez a los activos financieros y a los bienes recibidos en pago;

d)

Organizar y desarrollar el sistema de seguro de depósito y, como complemento de aquél, el de compra de obligaciones a cargo de las instituciones inscritas en liquidación o el de financiamiento a los ahorradores de las mismas;

e)

Colaborar con las autoridades en la liquidación de instituciones financieras intervenidas;

f)

Asumir temporalmente la administración de instituciones financieras, para lograr su recuperación económica. CAPITULO III. INSCRIPCION DE LAS INSTITUCIONES FINANCIERAS
