El Departamento de Asistencia Social estará a cargo de un Jefe, que será el Director de Asistencia Social. A dicho Departamento corresponde la dirección administrativa y técnica de la asistencia pública y de la beneficencia en tocio el país, así como la superintendencia de las instituciones de utilidad común. El estatuto de sus funciones queda establecido por la Ley 93 de 1938, la Ley V de 1931 y los Decretos 685 de 1934 y 1858 de 1938. Departamento de Ingeniería Sanitaria.
