El presente decreto tiene por objeto definir la composición y funcionamiento de la Sección de Colombia y el Comité Consultivo ante la Comisión Interamericana del Atún Tropical -CIAT- para dar aplicación a la Convención entre los Estados Unidos de América y la República de Costa Rica, suscrita en Washington D.C. el treinta y uno (31) de mayo de 1949, ratificada por Colombia mediante Ley 579 de 2000.
