Para ser miembro de la Comisión Asesora de Relaciones Exteriores se requiere haber desempeñado alguno de los siguientes cargos: Presidente de la República, Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Secretario General de la Cancillería, Director del Instituto de Estudios Internacionales, Jefe de una Misión Diplomática de carácter permanente, o ser o haber sido profesor de Derecho Internacional, o poseer un titulo universitario con especialización de Derecho Internacional otorgado por una Universidad reconocida por el Estado.
