El presente código rige el ejercicio ético de la optometría. Su radio de acción cobija a quienes ejerzan legalmente la optometría en la República de Colombia. En su aplicación se garantizará el derecho al debido proceso, la presunción de inocencia, la buena fe y la prevalencia del derecho sustancial sobre el adjetivo, de conformidad con los artículos 29, 83 y 228 de la Constitución Política.

Parágrafo

La comunidad optométrica, o las agremiaciones que la representan, velarán por su cumplimiento. Ninguna circunstancia eximirá su aplicación.
