La calidad de ciudadano en ejercicio es condición previa indispensable para elegir y ser elegido, y para desempeñar empleos públicos que lleven anexa autoridad o jurisdicción. Pero la mujer colombiana mayor de edad puede desempeñar empleos, aunque ellos lleven anexa autoridad o jurisdicción, en las mismas condiciones que para desempeñarlos exija la ley a los ciudadanos.
