Separación es el acto por medio del cual el Gobierno o el Ministerio de Defensa Nacional coloca fuera de la Institución a un Oficial o Suboficial de la Policía Nacional, en forma temporal o absoluta, según el caso, en acatamiento de sentencia condenatoria definitiva de la Justicia Penal Militar o de la Ordinaria, o de un Tribual Disciplinario, o de un Tribunal de Honor.
